December--that time of year when the New Release schedule slows to a crawl, allowing the world's compulsive nerds an opportunity to pause, breathe, and (re)assess what's transpired over the past twelve months. 2022 was a good year for new music, with both previously unknown talents and veteran acts dropping fresh tunes that aurally pleasured Wet Thud. Female solo acts and woman-lead groups make up 58% of this year's Top 50 Songs list. American acts once again constitute the bulk of this year's survey, accounting for 60% of artists represented, and Spring proved to be the hot season of the year for songs we dug, with more songs in the 2022 Top 50 having been released in the months of March and April than any other. So, without further ado, these are the fifty tracks that had Wet Thud reaching for the repeat button most often this year. Find a Spotify playlist of the full Top 50 at the bottom of this post. Enjoy.
