They may not have inspired the tabloid headlines or "chart battles" that some of their early contemporaries enjoyed/endured, but what The Charlatans have lacked in hype over the years, they've more than made up for in consistency with a truly remarkable discography. Churning out a string of ace albums, they've been around long enough now to see many bands that emerged during the same era break up (and sometimes reunite and break up again), but the Charlies remain resilient. Maybe even defiant. Despite the tragic loss of members over their history, the quality of The Charlatans' output has never suffered. On the eve of the release of their thirteenth studio album, Different Days, Wet Thud takes a look back at the band's discography and plays favourites. Artist Top 40: Nick Cave

This week marks the release of a new career-spanning boxed set from iconic frontman, rock and roll poet, and generally all-around fascinating human being, Nick Cave, and his backing band, The Bad Seeds. Lovely Creatures features music released between 1984's From Her To Eternity and 2013's Push The Sky Away, and so Wet Thud thought this was as good a time as any to take a look back through the Bad Seeds' discography and rank our favourites. For the purposes of this list, we put aside the work of Cave's former bands The Boys Next Door and The Birthday Party, as well as concurrent project Grinderman, and focussed solely on the output of The Bad Seeds. The running order of this list seems to be shifting by the minute based on ever-changing moods, and so we're just going to end the madness, hit 'publish' now, and say sorry, we know "Red Right Hand" probably should've ranked a few numbers higher.
